So here we are.....
In Johnson City, Tennessee. This is the third major move that Mindy and I have made since we’ve been married. We started in Columbia, SC. Then spent four years in Houston, TX. Now we are here in the middle of East Tennessee and the Appalachian Mountains.
I guess you could say that in part, moving here is fulfilling one of my childhood dreams. Some of my fondest memories as a child are of tent camping in the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina and Tennessee. When I was younger I always wished that I could live in the mountains. And now here we are.
But moving is not the only big change that’s in store for us. For the first time in our lives, we are moving into a new construction home. We didn’t build the home from the ground up, be we have made a lot of the interior choices. Feels like we’ve come a long way from purchasing our first house almost two years ago.
One of the most exciting parts of this new life.....
Is that we have never experienced true small town life together as a couple. Personally, I’ve never experienced it. I grew up in a “small town” that was actually a suburb in a city with a metro area of about 1 million people. Mindy actually did grow up for a time in a very small town in Nebraska.
East Tennessee is definitely a change of pace from Houston. The beauty of this area is absolutely amazing, and it’s nice not having 90+ degree temperatures everyday. Not to mention the scarcity of the traffic is a relief.
Changes as a photographer.....
On the business side of things, my biggest change was this new website. I had been planning on designing a new URL and website for awhile, and when we decided we were moving, I thought the change would correspond nicely.
As far as the rest of photography goes, I’m excited about the changes that are in store. I’m excite about being a wedding and portrait photographer in East Tennessee. There are so many beautiful landscapes and areas around here, and I’m excited at the opportunities those might afford me.
In Closing.....
We are very excited to be here in Johnson City. We could not have asked for a more beautiful part of the country to live in, and it’s nice being closer to my family in South Carolina. We look forward to meeting new friends, finding an awesome church, and exploring the mountains.
